This year's cover athletes were revealed less than a week ago, and now it's time to give you a sneak peek at what's going on behind the scenes. This is only a first look at some of the new features coming to NBA 2K22, with more in-depth information to be released in August and September to reveal even more of what's new in the next version of the best-selling NBA basketball simulation video game. Before the season begins on September 10, we have some exciting news to share with you about NBA 2K22.
GAMEPLAY ON THE INSIDE OF THE COURT
On-court gameplay enhancements are being implemented to give players greater control over not only how they score the ball, but also how they counter those moves on the defensive end. That's only the beginning of the story. More significant gameplay changes will be introduced with the release of the first NBA 2K22 Gameplay Reveal trailer, which will be released later in August.
OFFENSE - Breaking down defenders off the dribble with new signature moves and combos, precision jump shooting, dunking in traffic, and pulling off alley-oops are all becoming more skill-based. Basketball IQ and stick skills are even more important factors in distinguishing top offensive players.
DEFENSE - A completely redesigned shot contest and blocking system are just a couple of the many new defensive tools at your disposal in this game. Defending on the perimeter and in the paint has never felt more rewarding, and elite defenders now have the ability to make a real difference in the outcome of a game.
Seasons, which are available across fan-favorite experiences, allow players to extend and improve their hoop ambitions long after the game's initial release. Later in August, more information on the Seasons expansion will be revealed.
MYTEAM
NBA 2K22's MyTEAM feature develops into the ultimate experience for creating and competing with your own dream team from the very beginning, but that's not all there is to it. MyTEAM will continue to grow with the release of each new Season.
Draft - Returning in NBA 2K22 after a long absence, MyTEAM: Draft allows you to assemble your own starting lineup from a constantly updated pool of players. Compete in online multiplayer games with your new lineup to earn rewards for your MyTEAM Collection.
EXPERIENCE THE CHANGE IN MYTEAM -New challenges, rewards, and events are introduced throughout the year in NBA 2K22, ensuring that every Season is fresh and distinct in MyTEAM. On top of the numerous new features that were introduced on Day 1 of MyTEAM's launch, even more additions will be made throughout the year, including an entirely new game mode for the holiday season.
Balances in the VC, NBA 2K22 MT, and MyTEAM Token will be transferable between console families as well.
In NBA 2K22, the world's largest online basketball community is given two very different makeovers. Players on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S 2K22 will be able to step up and hoop in an entirely new version of the City; players on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC will be able to do the same. Players in NBA 2K22 will compete while embarking on a journey to the high seas. Take your best MyPLAYER builds and use them to express yourself in each unique online experience, using both your game and your style.
NPCs (non-playable characters) populate the new City layout, while MyPLAYERS from all over the world compete in the highest level of playground basketball. MyPLAYERS will be engaged with creative content through the introduction of a brand-new Quest system in NBA 2K22, which also provides new ways to level up and earn rewards in this reimagining of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S basketball communities.
MyPLAYERS can enter specific matchmaking buildings in order to be placed into immediate competition with other players. For a number of different game types, matchmaking sessions will be available, and they will count towards your overall MyPLAYER progress.
In an all-new, dedicated basketball community - a Neighborhood built on the spacious decks of a sailing cruise ship - NBA 2K gamers will be able to show off and compete on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC platforms. Explore and hoop in nautical luxury, and when the cruise docks in exotic locations throughout the Season, make your way to the Excursion counter to participate in shoreside Events - all of which take place completely off the ship!

MyCAREER and the all-new City come together in MT NBA 2K22 for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S to create a groundbreaking narrative experience for the NBA 2K series. Begin your personal journey to the pros – a sprawling MyCAREER life – by exploring the City, meeting new and familiar faces, and hooping your way to exciting new heights. Gamers will be able to follow the new 2K22 storyline on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via a dedicated, traditional MyCAREER experience.
Face off against the fashion industry, where the art of promotion will be the key to your success as a business mogul. Alternatively, you could get involved in the hip-hop industry, where your musical ability will open up a fascinating lane in the industry.
Your personal hub, which is central to your MyCAREER narrative and progress, represents your current position in the journey to the NBA. As your professional profile and ambitions rise, so will the value of your residence in the City.
The NBA 2K22 MyCareer mode will feature new characters and compelling storylines, and this year, being drafted into the NBA is only the beginning of your basketball narrative. More information about the new MyCAREER experience will be released in early September.

MyNBA/MyWNBA players can create the most successful franchise by ensuring that the coaching staff is as talented as the hooping.
